Gonna give that a watch later...This just reminds me of how some aspects of so called "0 tolerance" nonsense were applied to abuse students back in the day. the little things like refusing students batroom passes so "they couldnt go slack off", or "miss important material" etc. A lot of the stuff goes likely back to the 60s too, but it was given a new brand in the 80s and 90s.

I found myself running out of road very quickly in Germany. At most I’d get to drive at a top speed of 120 MPH for 7-10 miles before hitting a traffic jam due to construction or yet another city.
